Whichever hat he is wearing, Ibo is primarily a storyteller. A narrator with an eye for detailand magic, which is mirrored in his drawings, paintings, and music. With humor and a light playfulness he brings his stories into the limelight; whether it be on paper or on stage. Stillness and transcendency are important characteristics in Ibo’s oeuvre. He is a messenger from a poetic world that we sometimes seem to forget in the speed of everyday life.
In the tradition of the old folk singers and storytellers, he brings old stories back to life. He finds inspiration in old hypnotic hymns from Asia and Persia. During the Odorama-edition Scent and Scentsuality, Ibo performs his edit of the famous Screamin' Jay Hawkins song: I put a smell on you.
In 2019, Ibo and his quartet recorded an album with pieces by Gurdjieff / de Hartmann. (Gurdjieff (1866-1949) was an Armenian mystic, writer, and composer who worked and lived in Fontainebleau and Paris for the last 25 years of his life.)
