Book Binding Workshop

Make your own book

6 Nis 2013

This workshop introduced you to the basic techniques of book binding. All you needed was paper, needle and thread. If you wanted to go crazy you could bring an old leather jacket or skirt and turned it into a book cover, or spiced up your book with special paper, ribbons and decorations. At the end of the day there was made a durable sketchbook.

Freezing Favela

Freezing Favela is a temporary city at Mediamatic Fabriek. The Fabriek is situated in the Van Gendthallen on Oostenburg, Amsterdam. The space is big, unheated, and the roof leaks. Designers, cooks and other makers have been given the possibility to claim part of this space as their own. They work autonomously from their workshop- or project space, but like in any other community, materials, space, and functions have to be shared. Favela citizens are making tosti's from scratch, paper from cow dung, furniture from cardboard, and food from our aquaponics farm. They give workshops, organize get-togethers, and serve food.
