Rob La Frenais
Dr Rob La Frenais is a curator and critic who has commissioned and produced interdisciplinary and visual art projects since 1987. Since 1997 he has worked with The Arts Catalyst as curator. Before that he was a freelance curator and organiser working in different European contexts, including the 1990 and 1992 Cities of Culture in Glasgow and Madrid. In 1979 he founded the ground-breaking Performance Magazine. He has a PhD in curatorial practice across disciplines at Brunel University, London and is an honorary Doctor of Arts at Dartington College of Arts. He was recently curator in residence at Srishti School of Art, Bangalore. With The Arts Catalyst he advises on cultural activities in the International Space Station, set up the world’s first Artists Airshow and curated a number of major touring exhibitions in museums and galleries nationally, most recently ‘Interspecies’, about artists working with animals. He speaks at and chairs conferences internationally, most recently at ‘Paralelo’ at the Museum of Image and Sound, Sao Paulo. He is planning a new exhibition about artists living and working on the Moon.
