Parallax
The artist Zhana Ivanova designed the performance Parallax according to the beginnings of music composition and filmediting. Elements of recognizable film genres can be seen. Four performers follow her exact instructions. Parallax seems like two separate performances that the audience can watch from two different points of view.
Parallax had its premiere during the Plateaux festival in Frankfurt on 29 April 2009. On 13, 14 and 15 May 2009 Parallax was performed at Mediamatic by the performers Mariangela Tinelli, Tashi Iwaoka, Hannin Msellek and Marianne Langenegger.
Parallax is “an apparent movement of an object, caused by the changing position of the viewer”.
Interactive exhibition
Re: Parallax was an enormous photo set. According to directions from Zhana Ivanova the visitors took photos in this setting. Every photo is one image, one frame in a stop-motion production of Re:Parallax. Every visitor could become a part of the exhibition. Visitors could also look around on the set, encourage other 'actors' and view the photo's and stop-motions films. Every participant has access to their photos through the internet.
