Focusing on decentralizing utilizes such as drinking water supply and wastewater treatment, Hugo Cortial works towards closing the nutrient cycle and creating self-sufficient cities. Part of this work also entails recovering energy and nutrients from waste, resulting in valuable by-products such as compost and struvite, a mineral that can be used as fertilizer.
